------------------------------Per a report out of Switzerland this morning, Yannick Weber is close to signing a 2-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens.
I'm not the biggest fan of Weber's overall game, but he could develop into a solid powerplay guy who can take a reliable shift if paired with a bigger, defensive-oriented blueliner. My main knock against him is size and strength as, at a generous 5'11", 194 lbs, he will struggle to win battles in the corners in the defensive end.
Still, he has shown the ability to contribute offensively, and may even be able to play a versatile swing-role not unlike Mark Streit did in Montreal, occasionally slotting in as a forward.
