Team 990 to Acquire Habs Radio Broadcast Rights

Montreal's The Team 990 radio station is set to announce on air at 5 PM EST that they have acquired the rights to broadcast Montreal Canadiens games from CJAD 800, Home of the Habs for many years.

When I was a kid, I used to love the CJAD broadcasts featuring the likes of Dino Sisto and Pierre McGuire, but more recent commentators have gone down hill, so the move comes at an opportune time.

It remains to be seen who will actually take care of play-by-play and colour commentary duties, but some possible names include Mitch Melnyk, Chris Nilan, and perhaps (here's hoping) current Hamilton Bulldogs legendary announcer Derek Wills. So long as Tony Marinaro has no part in it, and they don't bring in the likes of P.J. Stock or Benoit Brunet, the move should be lateral at worst.

Tune in at 5 PM to find out more!
