Camp Begins with Physicals + Media Day

Let the Drive for 25 commence!

With the team checking in for physicals and media stuff today, we'll bring you updates as we get them like we did for the Golf Tournament on Wednesday.

If you missed it, HERE is the roster of players invited to training camp.

DAY UPDATES:

9:41 AM - In preparation for their eight preseason games, the Canadiens will be split into three clubs this weekend. Thanks to JFChaumont on Twitter, we have the first details on the division (lines listed below are just for illustrative purposes):

(or see rosters HERE from Hockey Inside/Out including players' numbers; Alexei Yemelin takes Sergei Kostitsyn's old #74, Raphael Diaz is #61, Jeff Woywitka takes Mike Komisarek's #8, Brian Willsie #56, and Mike Blunden #45)

TEAM A
Mike Cammalleri - Tomas Plekanec - Erik Cole
Brian Willsie - Louis Leblanc - Alexander Avtsin
Mike Blunden - Dustin Walsh - Alain Berger
Olivier Archambault - Ben Winnett - Dany Masse

Andrei Markov - Alexei Yemelin
Hal Gill - Yannick Weber
Jarred Tinordi - Mark Mitera
John McFadden - Morgan Ellis

Carey Price
Robin Gusse

TEAM B
Max Pacioretty - Scott Gomez - Brian Gionta
Aaron Palushaj - Olivier Fortier - Brock Trotter
Etienne Brodeur - Philip DeSimone - Andrew Conboy
Ian Schultz - Phillippe Lefebvre

Jaroslav Spacek - Josh Gorges
Raphael Diaz - Brendon Nash
Olivier Dame-Malka - Darren Dietz
Joe Stejskal - Zack Fitzgerald

Peter Budaj
Robert Mayer

TEAM C
David Desharnais - Lars Eller - Andrei Kostitsyn
Mathieu Darche - Michael Bournival - Brendan Gallagher
Travis Moen - Andreas Engqvist - Ryan White
Hunter Bishop - Gabriel Dumont - Joonas Nattinen

Alex Henry - P.K. Subban
Nathan Beaulieu - Jeff Woywitka
Frederic St-Denis - Tony Dehart
Jordon Southorn
(ouch! poor P.K.!)

Nathan Lawson
Peter Delmas

The split is encouraging for Habs fans who saw the lines shaping up in a similar way as I did, something like:
Mike Cammalleri - Tomas Plekanec - Erik Cole
Max Pacioretty - Scott Gomez - Brian Gionta
David Desharnais - Lars Eller - Andrei Kostitsyn
Travis Moen - Ryan White/Andreas Engqvist - Mathieu Darche

It also seems like a good move to have Andrei Markov, Alexei Yemelin, and Alexander Avtsin all on the same team (and no, not just for the first name alliteration). That should be a help with Yemelin's transition and Avtsin's continued adaptation to North America.
